Yesterday, in Tomsk the presidential commission on modernization assembled the heads of half a dozen of major companies. Following the meeting, the commission itself will determine what projects will be co-funded with that the share of state funding should not exceed 50%. Only the projects aimed at creating breakthrough and competitive in the global market technologies will be accepted by the Commission . An important condition is that together russian and foreign scientists will take part in it. Businessmen should apply no later than April 1, the list of selected will be approved in May. They hurry for the government to include projects in the budget for 2011, explained commission member, reported Vedomosti. Chubais, a former keynote speaker from the RUIE, said that business investment in this area amount to half of the state’s. And in comparison with other countries the situation is even worse. According to Chubais, the right of businesses to choose in what to invest should be granted but co-financing of the state is needed. The criterion for selection of projects may be their scope - for example, that products sales volume to reach 15 billion rubles by 2015.
Businessmen said they already have something to offer. “Onexim” group of committee member Mikhail Prokhorov expects by mid-2012 to begin mass production of innovative vehicles that run on liquefied natural gas, which is cheaper and better than all existing models. The plant is already being designed for 10 000 cars.
